So my question is, where do I put my IPD value that was decided from using the OR config utility? Thank you in advance!
#HALF LIFE SOURCE VR MODE HOW TO#
I figured it had to do with my IPD setting but the thing is, I can't find anywhere as how to fix it? Since the patch released for TF2 removed the calibration and you cannot make a config file for HL2 manually(I made one and tried executing it in the HL2 console, all unknown commands). It works fine and all but im getting a cross eyed view of everything when I get close to them. So just got my Oculus Rift, and first thing I want to do after trying a few demos was jump into HL2.

Interesting >.> Now I can continue the adventure, woo woo woo! I did notice that I have no VR option in the main menu anymore, the game automatically starts in Rift mode instead, no option about it in the settings either. I have noticed it's the same even outside of VR mode, took me a while to even think about testing that, haha.Įdit: So we finally got fast internets here, so I reinstalled Ep1, still buggy, reinstalled the entirety of HL2 and now things work! The crosshair does get split time and time again, but I can finally pick up ammo and stuff. Just did a screen recording with QuickTime Player. Basically unable to pick up ammo, enemies die from fall damage or acts weird in other ways, Alyx hates the floor. The issue? Well, I made a YouTube clip to show it off. It has been like this for what, a month? Not sure where I should report it but I figured this could be a good place Perhaps I should dig into the Steam community. Sadly the issue persists, even when starting new games, with or without running in VR mode.

I was actually having issues already in chapter 3, but I finished that chapter on a Windows machine and have since tried to continue with chapter 4 on my Mac.

So, I've gotten stuck in EP1 on a Macbook Pro running OS X 10.9. See what vr_separation_user_inches is set to and set the same You should launch TF2 and run vr_calibration. Set vr_separation_toein_pixels to 0 in HL2.Run HL2 and set that convar to the same value.Look at the vr_separation_user_inches convar and remember what it is set to.Run TF2 and calibrate using vr_calibration.You should definitely do this to avoid eye strain and make the whole experience more pleasant. The calibrator isn't up and running in HL2, but you can use the one in TF2 to generate the appropriate values. I find these convars to be useful in the game itself, so consider setting them: Vr_viewmodel_offset_forward_large - Same as vr_viewmodel_offset_forward, but for the Gravity Gun. Vr_viewmodel_offset_forward - Moves the viewmodel back so the elbows are harder to see and it feels more attached to your body.

You can work around this by picking full screen in the video options.Īll of the convars are the same as they were in TF2 with two additions: If you clone your desktop monitor to the Rift it won't work very well.Just like in TF2 this mode is experimental, so we really want to hear what you think. This port is a bit more raw than TF2 was when it shipped, so we would appreciate hearing about any bugs you find. You don't need to opt into that beta anymore. *** NOTE! The Steam Pipe beta shipped in summer of 2013. This should ship to everybody in a few weeks. Set your command line to "-vr", and opt-in to the SteamPipe beta. To get it, open the properties for HL2 in Steam by right-clicking on the name of the game in your library. We just shipped a beta for Half-Life 2 that includes Oculus Rift support.
